History Questions

Considering the experiences of farmers and migrants in the 1930s, would you have chosen to move west if you were in their position? Please provide three or four sentences explaining your reasons for either moving or opting to stay.

Answer

During the 1930s, farmers experienced significant losses and bankruptcy as their crop yields drastically fell. Migrants, on the other hand, were often displaced due to high unemployment rates. Therefore, relocating to the west during that time was a challenging choice; while some might find new opportunities, many unskilled individuals would struggle to survive. Additionally, poor land conditions in the west meant that many farmers had to sell their properties to settle debts, further complicating the situation.
